Are you crazy? I want to have the freedom to enjoy a good bottle of wine with my dinner. Why do you want everyone to suffer because some people can't control themselves. Alcohol and Tobacco IS out of reach of children due to the laws that have been enacted. It's people like you that are more of a danger to society than anything else because you are very narrow minded. Maybe you are just some self righteous person who thinks the world should be condemned for the sake of your children but the sad truth is the only hope children have is their own personal relationship with God. There will be no earthly law or anything that you can do that can change that. So don't infringe on my rights because you are afraid. If your children understand what God is all about then they will be able to Walk Through The Valley Of Death!

no, because the country was born on tobacco, if tobacco did not exist, the US probably would not have either. Alcohol, it won't happen because there is such an emphasis on alcohol these days that it would have any congressman lose his job over banning it. Do i think they should be gotten rid of based on how they can potentially harm others? Yes alcohol, because it does a lot, but tobacco only really harms its users. Second hand smoke is almost a lie.

If you make alcohol illegal, Tofu Jesus, then the Sacrament of the Beerbelly UberBelch will be lost to mankind, to the great detriment of our children.
If you eliminate tobacco from our Inhalations, then Heaven's Kiss is denied to Man, and our closets, which now have a friendly, stale, dead-rodent smell, will have no noticeable odor except fabric softener.
Shall I, a man free of both these vices, say Nay to our children?
In short, Tofu Jesus, our youth needs the privilege of kneeling and praying in the Church of Dissolution. And let those who shirk this duty, at least have a chance to look down upon past generations and rejoice. Yes, I say, rejoice. For who among us believeth not in the inferiority of their parents, at least until we hit 30 and realize we're no better?
Praise the Lord.

You sound like a total puss. You can't blame alcohol and tobacco for hurting people, it's the people that hurt themselves. I've drank before, but guess what, I've never in my life been drunk. Why, because I'm smart enough to have some control and know when I've had enough. And considering there's laws against underage use of those products, your question is kind of pointless.

I believe in freedom of choice and personal responsibility re use of pot, alcohol and cigarettes.
Abuse and even just use of these, however, has a significant impact on the health and welfare of the population including the cost of treating diseases associated with use or abuse (lung cancer, alcoholism) and the social price from people with addictions (higher divorce rates, spousal abuse rates, child abandonment rates). Why should the public at large have to pay for people who use irresponsibly or abuse them?

I think that we should keep alcohol and tobacco legal and for the sake of our children, ban public schools, we need to keep awful, liberal teachers out of reach of our kids!

1) The major imperative of teaching personal restraint and self-discipline rather than molly-coddling society and making harmful things illegal suggests that we leave it be.
2) The public gets what the public wants, and they want cigarettes and alcohol. Making it illegal merely forces a good deal of potentially taxable goods onto the black market, fuelling organised crime.

That would be called "Legalized Morality," and I don't think we should legislate what should already be the difference between right and wrong.
God gave us free will for that decision and the Holy Spirit to encourage us to live Godly lives, the TEN COMMANDMENTS to show us what IS sin.
NOW, if we would just make the Ten Commandments THE LAW of the land, we are talkin', brother.

We can't have drugs because they harm of bodies. Obviously the thousands of research on alcohol and tobacco are wrong and they in fact help our bodies survive .... in one word the answer is MONEY. The south depends on tobacco products. I think it's wrong but it's also a losing battle.
