He usually will come to the glass when I start talking to him, but now it scares him. Why?? I hold him and stuff, and he used to like it but now, he is scared of me. I was gone for 5 days, would that make a difference?

Have you picked him up since you've come back? Did you change your hairstyle? He may not realize it is you if you are just talking to him and looking through the glass. Rats have very poor eyesight but a good sense of smell. Make sure you aren't wearing any new perfume/cologne/deoderant (so he doesn't think you are somebody he doesn't know) and start handling him again. He'll come out of it.
