I had a friend who's water broke at four and a half months along. Her water didn't actually break. The sack sprung a leak. They Bay flighted her to a hospital 40 miles away that had a Neo Natal Unit. She was kept in the hospital on bed rest for 6 more weeks until they could no longer put off delivering the baby. The baby was born at 6 months gestation. He is doing well today. He is 4 years old now and has some motor skills problems but other than that he is fine.

The bag of waters can break at any time, and I think that the general point where the baby could survive is if it doesn't happen until after you are 7 months along. I think that preemies younger than that have survived before, but it's with a lot of work, and a lot of time in the NICU, and a lot of problems later in life.

I saw an episode of one of those 'having a baby' shows on TLC or discovery, or discoveryhealth or something like that, where a lady has like 5 or 6 months along and her bag of waters didn't bust, but started to leak, and they put her in the hospital and kept pumping in artificial amniotic fluid in to replace what was leaking. I think she eventually went into labor at like 8 months or something, and her baby ended up being fine. I'm not sure how accurate that is, though, because it was a while ago that I saw that.

Yes a womans water can break at 4 months, and then she will be put on bed rest in hopes to carry the child as close to full term as possible. Atleast this is what my doc said when I was really worried about this happening

Any questions though ask a doc.

If your water breaks at 4 months you need to see a doctor right away or you and your baby will be in trouble.

Your water can break at anytime, exp. if you are under stress, If at all you suspect your water broke go to your Dr. becasue it can cause an infection that CAN kill the baby, and harm you, if it has only been 4 months, they might put you on bed rest in the Hospital, to monator you and your stress, and try and keep you from delivering to early.

Yes, it can break at 4 months if you have Incompetent Cervix. Happened to me at 21 weeks, but can happen as early as 16 weeks (4 months)

Your water can break at any time, it just shouldn't break that early. The amniotic sac can also seal up and close the leak too, although this early in the game, you would most likely miscarry.

to tell you the truth..i dont really know the answer to that. the only thing i can tell you is that i had a baby when i was not even 6 months and my water didnt break?!..i just had contractions and they did an emergancy C-section. so you might want to ask an obgyn..cuz my son didnt make it.. he only lived 22 hours and i wouldnt want anyone to go through that.. i know how it was.. so good luck to you!!! BEST WISHES!*

I guess its possible, but its definitly not a good sign. If it did happen, it would mean that you are going to have a late miscarriage
