Breast feeding is much better. There is a special bond achieved between mother and baby.

When it comes to nutrition, the best first food for babies is breast milk.

More than two decades of research have established that breast milk is perfectly suited to nourish infants and protect them from illness. Breast-fed infants have lower rates of hospital admissions, ear infections, diarrhea, rashes, allergies, and other medical problems than bottle-fed babies.

it is my pleasure to answer your question. It is said that when mother breast feed it creates a special bond between the mother and her new born baby. It is also said the the proteins, vitamins , minerals and all that good stuff that the baby needs to fight off lil sickness like cold and coughs is produced in the mothers milk.

With the development of technology today the milk now comes with DHA & ARA which is found in breast milk this is just as good but trust me there is no replacement for breast milk.

If your baby don't take the breast milk then do not be alarmed you can purchase a breast pump and pump the milk into the bottle or get the Gerber OR nestle good start that has the DHA & ARA in it

wishing you a healthy baby and a safe delivery

Well, people typically feel strongly about this one, usually. But, pediatricians generally agree that breastmilk is best. Even the label on the formula container says breast is best, but use this if you can't or choose not to breastfeed. Here are some of the main benefits:

Breastmilk is a highly complex combination of nutrients that is specific to and perfect for human babies. It's impossible to replicate. Formula is adequate but it can't match the complexity of breastmilk.

Breastmilk changes over time, as the baby's nutritional needs change. Formula doesn't.

Breastmilk is easy to digest.

The poop of a breastfed baby doesn't smell bad (really!)

Babies need cholesterol for brain development (as well as many other nutrients). Breastmilk has loads more cholesterol than formula.

Breastfed babies, on average, have higher IQs, less ear infections, less food allergies and are generally healthier (remeber, that's the average, individuals will vary)

One of the best benefits - the incredible, unmatchable bonding that occurs when you breastfeed. No matter how much you snuggle when bottle feeding, it does not compare to the closeness of breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding will save you money! There's nothing to buy. Formula is expensive.

Breastfeeding is convenient. You always have baby's food on hand, it's always available and at the perfect temperature. If you have to get up in the middle of the night, there's no messing with measuring and making bottles. Plus no bottle washing.

Breast may be best for some, but I didn't. Both were on Similac.
The part about the immune system and stuff.....My kids are 10 and 14,I guess I have been truly blessed that they are basically never sick.I remember one year I took them for their well visit (both August babies) and the pediatricain commented "Oh yeah these are the two we only see once a year."(LOL)
My youngest just completed his 3rd year of perfect attendance in school.Sure they get a runny nose or sore throat every now and again but thats about it. Same goes for my 4 yr old niece that wasn't breast fed. They are all right where they should be in their development. My niece is actually tall for her age. It's genetics.
As for IQ, my son is an A student and my daughter carries a B average.
My cousin breast fed both babies and they've been sick and have more allergies than most kids I know.
It's a personal choice but don't think for one second that you're a "bad mom" or theres something wrong with you for not breastfeeding. I heard my share of comments "back in the day".
Best wishes to you and enjoy every moment because they grow up so fast!!

There are dozens of reasons to breastfeed! The colostrum, or first milk your baby will get from you, contains antibodies which will help your baby stay healthy. It's the natural thing to do. It's free! Your milk will always be clean and just the right temperature. It can help you lose the baby fat from pregnancy. Breastfeeding is also a great way to bond with your baby. There are a variety of great breast pumps you can rent or purchase if you are worried about your freedom. Many women take breast pumps to work with them and pump milk to feed the baby later. It's even been suggested that breastfeeding reduces your risk for breast cancer. This is the first parenting decision you'll get to make; it's important!

My brothers were not breastfed because it was socially "not done" when they were born, but I was breastfed. Both of them had health problems such as asthma as children (and one of them into adulthood). I've never had asthma or any other serious illnesses. My mom regrets not breastfeeding all of us.

Breast milk is better for your child. Not so much that the child will grow faster, but health wise. Babies do tend to grow a little more because this is the most natural way to nourish a child. There are very few chances that an infant will have an allergic reaction to it's mothers milk, however they can have many reactions to formulas. Health wise it is the best choice. It is also the most rewarding and special bonding, between mother and child.GOOD LUCK!!!

i just had a baby (well 6 months ago), any way even though i really wanted to breast feed, i wasn't abe to. breast milk is definetly better for baby, it is natural and healthy as u know. but remember all the facts: when in public u have to be really discret, u have to watch what u eat or else it will end up in the baby, and so on...any way, u can do both if u like.
PS: my brothers and sisters and i grew up on a bottle (as many kids do) and we all turned out fine. don't worry too much about the people that say that formula is no good...u will hear many different things and from so many people, but as i am learning myself u haev to trust your instincts...good luck

Not only is it better for the baby it does wonders for mommy as well! Breastfed babies have lower chances for allergies, diabetes, asthma, etc. While mommies uterus goes back to pre pregnancy size much faster than without breastfeeding. It helps her hormones normalize much more smoothly, she is also far less likely to suffer from osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer. Also its cheaper, (all you have to do is feed the mom) ready made (no having to find a way to prepare a bottle while you're away from home), and easier to deal with at night (mommy can feed baby while lying down in bed for those 2 am feedings.) Breastfeeding also strengthens babys jaw muscles and reduces the chances of S.I.D.S. occurring. I have been breastfeeding for 3months and I can't tell you how happy I have been!! If you ever have any questions please feel free to email me theres nothing better than a good support system to keep you going!!! Good Luck!

It's not that breastfeeding will help babies grow faster or smarter or healthier... it's that formula fails to help babies grow to their full potential, it makes them sicker, and it causes digestive/allergy problems. It's a mostly adequate nutritional substitute with none of the immune benefits.

Sure, many babies will do fine on "mostly adequate" but that doesn't change the larger statistical picture about breastfed vs. formula fed babies.

Besides, formula is what, 50-60 years old in its modern incarnation? Breastmilk has been developed over millennia to be the perfect food for infant humans.

Breasmilk won't help baby grow faster or develop quicker... it's the nutritional value it offers. Better, healthier immune system... easier digestion... better for brain development... and made just right for baby.
Formula will be good as well... but cannot compare to breastmilk. Your baby could develop at the same rate breastmilk or formula... but your milk will be much more agreeable for him/her. Plus... it's always ready, warm, available... and best of all... it's free! Formula, over the course of the year can cost you over $1600. That's no joke!
