Well, yes, they are recorded. See the field where you can Search for questions? Or the Discover tab? That's where you can see all of the questions that have been asked.

If you click "My Q&A" you will see the questions you've asked, the questions you've answered, and more. It's very similar to the page other users go to when they click your screen name.

Part of the idea of this site is to serve as a database of knowlege where people can find answers.

They keep track of your actvitity and your points, and there is a "leader board" that lists the people who have collected the most points.

No doubt, they tabulate various statistics as well, though I don't know what they are.

What you write here (unless removed for violating the guidelines) is permanent.

Is the government using all this info to look for subversives? I doubt it; haven't had the feds knocking at my door, anyway.

P.S. Although this is the first question you've asked; you've answered 113 (and 16% of them got the Best Answer nod). After submitting this answer I clicked your screen name.

Although the whole planet is gathered in this small virtual world , it is in reality a small and restricted area, we fabricated a new world : All the information we send and receive cannot be private anymore , to allow everyone to have access to this information it has to be tabulated and recorded by some huge mainframe

Um, That'd be cool, 'cause the dude running Yahoo! would have questions to all this stuff, and some stuff he might need! But, there would be too much information to be collected and put on a mainframe, with all the people constantly asking Q and answering A's.

It doesn't bother me. Everything we do and say is being recorded somewhere in some fashion. I don't do or say anything I'm ashamed of or afraid to say. If my grandchildren were to read my questions or answers, I wouldn't feel the need to apologize. It's only when we have something to hide that we feel paranoid.

Of course. According to the TOS, they own the answers. Of course, you are still liable if you say something that might offend someone.

Sweet deal, huh?

They actually did try, but all the "How's My Avatar?" questions overloaded the mainframe and caused it to crash.

Probably I know I would. It would probably allow Yahoo to make a fortune in marketing.
