Stupidity is subjective. As far as not sharing your beliefs, that is a matter of the person's experience.
Some people have no desire to learn anything, they are so involved in themselves, they can't look past themselves to help others or learn about other cultures, history, or learn about the world outside their neighborhood.
I find that people who don't share my beliefs, or opinions have no right to judge me. I have a strong belief in God, and have seen His healings, His miracles, that are medically documented.
I have traveled extensively, and have seen the hope of people in poverty, just because of their belief in God. Yet, I have seen utterly rich people have no hope, because they don't "need" God in their lives, and they are empty inside.
It's not a matter of stupidity, it's a matter of honestly before God, and humbleness.

That is an awesome question. I have always wondered why 2 people who are born under the same conditions end up being so different mentaly. Why is an Einstein smarter smarter? Is the actual brain bigger? Some people learn one thing faster then another with the same training. Why? You asked a question so I can only speculate on this question. My answer is that it is purely random and there is no reason or purpose for it. I think it is okay to call another person stupid at times because their actions show they clearly are. Here on Yahoo, there is so much stupidity, that it proves one person can give a reasonable answer with limited intelligence and another is just dumb, and always will be. peace.

Some people are stupid. I hate to say it, but it's true. HOW? Wow, that's a long answer. A person's intelligence is based on many factors: too many to list.
It is NOT right to think of others as stupid on the basis that they don't agree with you. That would be stupid.

A lot of "smart" people do stupid things. I find people to be more ignorant than stupid, though I have known some stupid people in my time. Is there a nicer word to use than stupid?

Stupidity is the mental defect where someone is unwilling to think about new concepts, and unwilling to accept new perspectives.
Stupidity doesn't mean an inability to to use your brain. It means being closed-minded to the point where new thoughts cannot occur.
I'll respect anyone's opinion, whether I agree with it or not, as long as it is based on rational thought, and as long as they are open to new information and new perspectives. But if they cannot explain why they think they way they do, then their opinion has no value as far as I am concerned. And it doesn't have to be any elegant proof -- just a good faith attempt to explain is good enough for me.

I think people use the word "stupid" to describe other people and/or their actions when they don't agree with them or feel that it is not the smartest thing to do. If you are talking about "stupid" as a measure of intelligence, the adjective has no credible weight at all since it's then meaningless...

I find that everyone is smart about something. It's also wrong to write people off as stupid for not agreeing with you. On so many levels it's wrong.
