I'm 24 year old female and I'm going for an interview for a design job, is it mandatory I wear a suit? I was thinking I could wear a nice pencil skirt (below my knees of course), with a button down shirt and a sweater vest layered over . . . or should I just wear a pant suit and if I do, do i tuck my shirt in? or leave it out? (it'd look more fashionable out)

With a suit a shirt always looks more professional tucked in, you look unkempt when you wear a button up shirt untucked with a suit. You have to wear a belt with suit if you tuck the shirt in, it will pull the outfit together. Wear the suit to the interview, first impressions are important. If you get the job, wear the pencil skirt outfit at work, it is totally cute for job in the design world.

It depends on the company. A suit always looks professional. If you do wear a suit, if the shirt will hang past the jacket, I would tuck it in. Although what you described sounds like it could do. The real key is to not look sloppy. Just remember that with an interview you are there to make a great impression, stand out and make the employer know you really want the job. It's not a fashion contest.

Collared shirt, pressed, long pants. You dont have to tuck in the shirt if its pressed and goes good with the pants. This will show them you like to take risks, have a good sense of what looks good especially if its a job requirning creativity. Colors. Green and Grey. Blue and Khaki. Things i look for when im interviewing for employees.

Pencil skirt would be good. If it's a guy. If its a girl, lean more towards the business suite, but forget the jacket. Only if the weather is cooler.

This sounds strange, but go there the day before and watch the employes when they leave for the day. Copy their style, but go one step dresier. I'm an artist and when I interview I always wear simple black slacks, heels (closed toe only), an nice blouse, sometimes a jacket depending on how classy the company is, but I add creative accessories, like dangly earrings and a scarf. Pant suits can look too stuffy for creative people. Good luck.

Going to a job interview doesn't mean being in a tight, well-ironed suit. It depends on the type of job you're applying to of course. If you're applying as an artist, it's not necessarily to wear a suit. You can wear what you've mentioned as long as you look neat and presentable. Also wear light natural makeup; and as much as possible, don't wear strong scents.

Those who should wear suits are those applying for an office job; secretarial; manegerial; etc. For artists, they could wear anything to express themselves as long as they're still presentable.... i'm getting redundant here so you get the idea...

Good luck!!

you should wear a sexy pencil skirt with a light and sexy suit jacket showing you cleavage. it looks fashionable and cute. but instead of wearing a regular white shirt wear something like light green or blue tucked in. you'll look stylish and cutee. good luck and i hope you get the jobb ♥

FOR AN INTERVIEW, SUIT IS BEST WITH YOUR SHIRT TUCKED IN! LOOKS MORE PROFESSIONAL. ITS NOT MANDATORY, HOWEVER I THINK YOU WILL HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING THE JOB! GOOD LUCK!

For a design/artistic type of job, I would not be too conservative - show some flair and creativity without looking crazy.
