Grapeseed oil was spilled on my carpet . I have used the Dawn detergent method but it hasn't helped. It is now a couple months old. Today I bought some Oxiclean and thought of making a strong solution, let it sit, then extract with a rented carpet cleaner; repeating once dry, as is probably necessary at this point. Please, any suggestions or thoughts...? Thanks.

I work at a retirement home for the elderly, and the maintence man uses something in a spray bottle called,
KRUD CLEANER- and I think you get it at Manards, it will tell you on the bottle what it all takes out. I have seen it work on ink pens on carpet, so good luck

Alltho Oxiclean touts to be great at all sorts of stains. you have to concider that a carpet is "well" on the floor and that any liquid base cleaner is going to soak downward.
Most oil based stains on carpets are best taken out with the removal of the carpet where it can be processed thru a machiene that can sash it in a standing or upsidedown position. If this is not feasable. try a carpet cleaner with carbontetracloride in it. as this is the only thing I know of that will actualy break up the oils, also use plenty of white clothes or towals to blott up the stain. do not use an extractor as this is a volitial and should only be removed properly.

call a professional, most of the products listed will just leave a residue in the carpet that will attract dirt and the spot will come back. most professional solutions for removing oil spots are alcohol based, but arent available to the public as they will eat your carpet backing if not used properly. the problem may also be that you have oil in your carpet pad, you'd need to pull the carpet back cut out the oil soaked pad and replace then clean the carpet.

Call British Petroleum or Exxon. I hear they have practice cleaning up oil spills.

WD-40 (it's mostly lanolin) might dissolve it, then try the Dawn to clean out the lanolin.
