I have never ever used this word. However then why is it black people use it so much? I hear black people calling themselves and other blacks the n word all the time. Perhaps all of you should stop using it as well!

I actually could answer you. It is complicated but there is an answer.

Briefly.

Country founded by white people. Some (not all) felt they needed slave labor to survive (thank you Spain).

Slavery broke up black families...they were chattel (look it up). No Husband/wife/family with kids. They had kids and they were taken away ...so the black family in this country did not grow up with the same values as the white people because the family structure was destoyed by slavery. Whites had a system of family, support, extended family and economic growth.

Blacks were trated as animals for the most part.

Then Blacks got their freedom, thanks to abe Lincoln (a republican by the way). But they never had the family values history or strength of family. Didn't know , nor could they, make any serious economic gains for years. So, who is to blame for their actions of the past...that isn't racist but a fact...there are more blacks in prison than whites and it is a CULTURAL problem, not a criminal one!

Because there was no FAMILY! But because of the disporportionate number of Blacks in prison etc, the white think that it is solely a black problemn and not a historical one. So, just thinking that Blacks are "different" or lesser humans, they use that word...because they don't understand the underlying reasons!!!!!!

Maybe you should think of something more constructive to do to change perceptions etc, instead of just continuing down the same road.

So, now you know what this whole thing is all about and why!!

I am a gentleman, I know the words N, S, W, I choose not to use them. As I choose not to use obscenities,(OK if a brick falls on my toe something may slip out). That is the difference between being crude and civil to one another. As far as being called a name, I find the best defense is to laugh at them. I'm 1/2 italian 1/2 french canadian, so there are lots that apply. I find them funny, and that takes all the power away from the name caller.

White people (not all) seem to have an idea of superiority though they could not cultivate "this great land of ours" and had to go to another continent to get people who did not understand them to do their work. So the idea that they have an upper hand by using that word gives them a bit of a thrill I think.

As an African American I hate the N word and do not allow it used in my home or in my presence. I fell that when other African Americans use it as a way to show love---they are only perpetuating the slave like thought process taht you can;t be just a brother or a sister you have to take it back to beiing the lowest of the low ..an N...and I see that as self disrespect.

I also think that as the majority people of color intimidate whites becasue they are no longer and actualy nver really were the majority. they just were not strong enough to stay to them selves and incorporated as much color as they could into their lives.

Nobody should use it and then maybe it will disappear from our language. It is disrespectful for anyone to use it no matter the race. It is hypocritical for a black person to use it and then get pissed at a white if he uses it in the same manner. But this still doesnt justify any use of the word.

I hate seen a few instances of white people using the word, but I don't think its appropriate for anyone to use the word, black or otherwise. I have never said it and never will, that's nice that people want to reclaim the word, but it just seems foolish to me, besides if you want to get anywhere in life, I assure you that will not fly in the corporate world, you will look unprofessional and ghetto. That's just my take on the word, as I have posted in other questions.

Ok, I'm half white and half asian - and I don't use the n word and I find I get offended when I hear it.

But how is your attitude any better than the people that use it? How can you say it's alright for a black person to say it, but it's wrong if a white person says it??? That is racist.

People should be judged on their individuality - not on what race they are.

And I even take offense to the "N" word. I just yelled at my husband the other day for saying it in reference to a Brazil nut.

the reason black people are called n.ggars is because there is a very high percentage of loud, obnoxioius, uneducated, lazy, jobless, good-for-nothings in their race....Then they grow up thinking the world owes them something!

White people run the world today because we busted our @$$ to get there, then some stupid n.ggar, sitting on his lazy @$$ gets in the way of progress and we move them out of the way so we can accomplish something with our lives and they call it "racism" or "opression"
