I have a basset hound. He always falls asleep on the sofa. The other night he fell asleep with his big old ear flopped over his eyes. He woke up and was freaking out because he couldn't see. He didn't even realize it was his own ear covering his eyes.

I had a rabbit that ran loose in the fenced back yard. When the dog wanted to play, she would approach the rabbit and bark politely. The rabbit would run around the yard with the dog chasing him. But if he didn't want to, he would turn and face the dog pointedly, to say no. One day a neighbor dog got into the yard and went for the rabbit. First the rabbit turned to say "no," but the dog didn't stop. The rabbit ran at top speed toward my brother's red wagon, and made a quick right turn at the last instant. The dog hit the wagon and banged his front legs, then ran out of the yard. I was impressed with my rabbit's quick response! I understand rabbits often do this in the wild, running a dog into a wire fence or other obstacle.

The funniest experience i've had with a my animals is when we were playing spies. You see me and my dog were spies plotting to kidnapp the evil cat queen. And we snuck up on her and then she turned a corner. There is a room in that hall way and we walked passed the door creeping slowly and then there was a loud meow and i screamed. I kind of scared her but i gave her big hugs and pats for 2 and a half hours afterwards.

We got our cat Cosmo, now 10, at 6 months of age, when we lived in a really small apartment. I had bought some ears of corn for our Thanksgiving dinner and left a stack of them out on the counter overnight. After we went to bed, we heard Cosmo rustling around in the kitchen, making more (or different) noises than usual, so I got up to go find out what he was doing and turned on the light just in time to see him jump off the counter with an ear of corn, holding the silk in his teeth and riding it like a rocket, down to the floor. Our pets are always doing funny things, but this was my favorite gag of all time.

Around Halloween we were walking my puppy and he saw a fake ghost hanging off of someone's porch and freaked out...he was barking and growling and his hair stood up on his back. The funniest thing is he wouldn't go near it, we had to cross the street to walk by.

My cat loved corn on the cob. We had our plates in the living room, getting ready to eat. The dogs knew not to approach our food. We came back in, the cat had the corn on the cob in his mouth, the youngest dog had the cats tail in his and was pulling him away from the plate! We immediately extracated the cat away from the dog - he was not hurt - and had a good laugh! The dog usually got blamed for food missing off our plates!! We found our culprit that night!

When my schaunauzer was a puppy, he got the cordless phone while I was at work and somehow called my mother. She thought something was wrong with me and I could not talk. My mother said she did not know that she was talking to a dog. She was very upset by this, but now we have a good laugh about it.

We have this cat toy with a feather on the end of string attached to a stick. Our Border Collie Heidi would sit and watch us when ever we played with the cats. After about 5 times of watching, she jumped right in with the cats and totally imitated how they were jumping in the air to catch it. She had obviously studied the whole situation, and when she was sure she had it, joined in. It had us rolling on the floor! She plays every time now. :)
