Nope. Someone told me once that in general the higher up on the ear you go, the more it hurts. I would really have to say that all the lobe piercings are about the same pain level and then it is more painful when you get into cartilage. If you are going that high, don't let them use a gun, go to a professional piercer and get it done with a needle.

i have 4 ear piercings the first one hurt but the other three did not. I didn't even feel a thing

Depends. Are you redoing a closed up hole, or getting a second hole done completely? Are you piercing the upper part of your ear, or the lobe? A second one on the lobe won't hurt, but piercing cartiledge or scar tissue will hurt.
