Peugeot pulled out of the American market many years ago. They lost ground to domestic and Japanese manufacturers because they used to build garbage. When I lived in England a few years ago, Peugeots seemed to be good cars. But I don't think they can successfully break back into the American market any time soon. The competition is just too tough.

I think there is a stereotype in America that the French cannot build anything worth buying, even if it is not necessarily true.
Peugeot did sell cars in North America in the 70s and 80s.
They stopped because of poor sales and never really considered re-entering the market.

Innovative concepts? Like what? Breaking down every 100 miles? Losing 40% resale value every month? Costing too much?
We do NOT need another French made piece of $hit on our roads or junk yards.

Is some legal, and safety issues to why they don't sell them here. Let alone trying to pass american standards for emissions, then there is the safety aspect, like certain kinds of windows, and the survivability of crashes and such. And also, to maybe put the steering system on the left side, unless they do that already. And of course PRICE. Seems that peugots are rather expensive for their size.

I would guess that in America, there is no market for a Peugeot. What's desireable in one country may not be desireable in another country. But, what I think is the big variable is that it would cost to import the cars, to change them to left hand drive, rather than right hand drive, and to set them up so that they conform to US emission standards. The emission standards in France is different from the emission standard in America. Furthermore, the company would have to spend more money for advertisements, dealerships to be build/bought, and, of course, the employees. Not to mention the crash standards. I'm sure that in France that's different, too.

I know!! Those cars are so cute. Maybe if they made them better it wouldn't be so much of a problem.

SIMPLE nobody wants the piece of S***
Actually, they USED to sell them here, but there was not enough interest to justify continuing.
