America in the 1800's. This was before the American Civil War. There were still many Native American tribes alive and living in the country. The War of 1812 was an attempt by Britain to retake the Colonies. Many immigrants came to the American frontier to gamble for a better future. You might look up the presidents at that time and what issues were prevelant.
