There are a lot of free MMORPGs out there, but you've just got to know where to look. Unfortunately, most of them do require a lot of information, but it's pretty easy just to fake it if need-be.
The obvious first answer here is MapleStory. Completely free, a huge community, and options to purchase clothing, makeovers, and items for your character. The game is still fun without having to purchase those items, though, so it's nothing you -have- to do. The game is kind of like a side-scrolling RPG, with an anime-feel to it.
Knight Online is another pretty good one. It's got a fairly large community, and plays a bit more like a real MMO, if you ask me. You choose from two different races and a few different classes, then run around and kill things in true MMORPG-style.
Silkroad Online is pretty similar to Knight Online, I think. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play this game for a very long time, but the graphics are good, and the community seems decent enough.
You can also try playing Ragnarok Online on private servers. You'll have to pay monthly to play on the official servers, but there are tons of private servers out there to choose from; some have their own unique clients, and others don't. I'd recommend the Clownphobia website with Lightside/Legend RO, although you can always Google for other private servers (note: Clownphobia's website works best on Firefox).
If you ask anyone around here, they'll probably tell you that you should play Runescape. I personally didn't like this game, but it is free and registration is pretty simple. The graphics are quite bad compared to other free online games, but there is no client to download for this one (it opens right in your browser). Play at your own risk.
If any of these fail to get your interest, there is still hope! FreeMMORPGList.com has several different listings of free MMORPGs (obviously). Just pick a genre that you're looking for, and then browse through the listings to find something that might interest you.
I hope this helped a bit, and good luck!

I think Miniclip's Runescape doesn't ask any personal questions, or limit much access if you're not a paying member. I really recommend buying one like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars, everyone I know says they are leagues better.

guildwars is a lot like World of warcraft and you dont need to pay for it monthly. i found it to be really fun. you can get many hours of play out of it too.
risk your life AKA RYL is a good one also. its pay monthly but you get the first couple months free.
city of villians was pretty fun also yet another game where you get the first few months free.
from what i understand final fantasy xi is pretty good also ive never played it but my roommate has.
