I am going to the orchestra for with a friend, it isn't opening night or a special event, just a regular concert. We have balcony cheap seats. What is appropriate dress for a Saturday night show? It isn't until November.

You can never go wrong with black. A black skirt with a black top, nice shoes and purse. Bring a little jacket with you if you don't have to walk too much between car and entrance. However, if it's very cold or your walk is a long one, there is a coat check, where for a few dollars they'll hold on to your coat until the end of the show (don't leave valuables in your jacket or anything you may need during the show).

If you're not too keen about skirts a black pair of pants will always work too. I've been to some concerts where people actually showed up in jeans and t-shirts and they felt pretty embarrassed. If it's a posh concert hall, they may not even let someone in if they're not dressed properly. For example, in a lot of places in Europe they have suit and dress rentals for those that show up without proper attire. (Quite embarrassing if you ask me).

Bring a few dollars for refreshments during break time, and sometimes they may be selling cd's or t-shirts, etc.. so you may want to get yourself a souvenir.

Also, you may want to bring with you a handkerchief in case you're reduced to tears (like in the movies), a pair of binoculars (get the little opera ones - - don't know how much they cost, or see if you can borrow a pair), a little make up to to freshen up etc.

Have a great time, and enjoy the show :-)))

Ask you friend how people dress. Generally Saturday night concerts are dressy affairs in most cities. Wear a nice dress or pants suit.

i wouldnt wear something that is overly fancy, but dont show up in jeans and a tee. my advice would be a simple black wrap dress with a fun, hip scarf around the neck, and cute heels in a color that almost matches the clutch you should take. have fun at the orchestra!

It would be proper for you to wear a nice pair of slacks or a nice dress/skirt. Conservation yet stylish would be good. Uber-casual would be in poor taste regardless of the class of seat you have...

It would definately be nice for you to wear a dress (semi-formal) and perhaps a cardigan to compliment the entire look.

a black satin cocktail dress would look sophisticated, classy, and sexy. as for accesories, wear silver dangling earrings. silver heels would be nice too. good luck ♥
