I have repeating dreams, and I think they indicate constant stressors in our lives.
For years I dreamed about getting my teeth knocked out. A friend told me it might be related to my fear of public speaking!
I don't know if dreams really symbolize anything at all. Some say that dreams are simply bodily functions caused by neurons firing, but what are the chances of these neurons firing exactly the same way repeatedly?
Good question.

I have had 2 repeating dreams. One was just an interesting dream, not very scary or anything. The other was so scary that it woke me up every time i had it, and i couldn't go back to sleep. I started taking over the counter sleeping pills (unisom) but got so bad that i could take the whole box of 16 pills and not fall asleep.
Doctor put me on ambien, which got me to sleep, but if i had the dream i'd still wake up all freaked out and stay up the rest of the night. I had this dream sometimes 2-3 times a week, then go 2-3 weeks without having it for over 7 years. Then it just stopped.
If you email me at yahoo.com i'll tell you about it. I know a lady in NC who does dream interpretation, told her about it, and got some interesting answers, some more believable than others.

I've had repeating dreams. In fact, my sister and I had very similar repeating dreams. As far as I can tell, it was just a case of both of us having common experiences growing up, and for a while those experiences were on our minds at the same time. For example, the dreams always involved moving into a new house. Since we were military brats, we frequently moved into a new house. No surprises there.
I've also had dreams that were completely different in most details, except that they all involved my grandfather's house. Again, so surprises, since he was dying at the time, so he was on my mind.
So maybe your repeating dreams are just an expression of something in your past. If something happens during the day that triggers the memory, even if it's not at a conscious level, it's likely to come out in your dreams.
Keep looking, and you'll probably figure out what the dreams are about.

Whenever I'm really starting to feel pressure in just every day living because of some deadline or whatever I have to meet - I start having repeating dreams. They sort of mirror each other; inescapable in a sense, but the reality is that you can't go back in time to meet that deadline.

My husband went through a period (of about 10 years) where he had elevator dreams. All his dreams were in elevators and sometimes the elevators were elaborate and even had furniture in them. Sometimes they were just regular elevators. When he was going through those dreams, sometimes we'd be getting in an elevator and he'd look around it and say, "I had a dream about this elevator. I mean it looked just like this."
