killing a killer = justice? no. it's totally uncivilised, and thankfully most of europe has done away with it. it's not a deterrence, so basically, we're doing it for what reason, revenge? urgh. i believe it's our duty to rehabilitate, not retaliate. of course, the current british system of rehabilitating criminals is dreadful and most will re-offend. we need to take a leaf out of a country like denmark's book.

i'm not going to go in to the obvious reasons why it's morally wrong (i've done it too many times in the past) but the uk will never make it legal anyway so i've nothing to worry about

on a separate note, most of the people on this thread sound totally insane

Like many others I would say that only if guilt can be 100% proven for murder. But at the same point in time, I do feel that should parents find a person abusing their child then they should have the call on what his/her punishment should be. It is probably one of the most difficult questions to answer and ask, so hats off to you for being so brave. I could take up a full page just one aspect of the answer to this question!

Yknow what
I would support capital punishment in the USA IF the system was fair in trials. The govt lawyers appointed are those who are biding their time to pay their loans and so dotn give a rats ***. Most of the police in USA are so racist its amazing. I dont have to tell you all the appaling reports athat have been witnessed by everyone all over the world. Thirdly have you been to TEXAS? That state alone with its capital punishment and judicial system is the most scariest when you see who runs it
SO NO
NEVER support it.
Would i support it in UK, our legal system is 40% better than USA's. So people do have a little bit better fair chance
I would support capital punishment through DNA proof and not just witness statements in the USA although that place is full of remarkably EVIL people who will sell their souls for money or hang the nearest black.spanish child from the nearest tree
I would support it for serial killers rapist and childmolesters if i had to

I don't believe in capital punishment just because it seems to me to be very hypocritical. For capital punishment to be logical, and I certainly don't claim that the law is always logical, then the crime of killing would have to be discarded first. Then, and only then, could I accept capital punishment as a form of justice.

I don't necessarily believe or disbelieve in the death penalty and I guess it depends on each individual case. However, I would think that life in prison with no chance of parole could be a worse punishment then being put to death and ending it all. (At least prison life used to be pretty rough.) I also have a concern that a person may be executed and then with new sciences that person in the future is found innocent. There seems to be more of these cases arising,

I believe in capitol punishment, but not the way it is done in the U.S. Capitol punishment does not deter crime because it is not done swiftly enough. These child killers and murders spend 15 years or more on death row at taxpayer expense when they should be hung within 2 years. There should be a special court system in each state to deal with these cases. That,i believe, would greatly speed up the process.

Capital Puishment should only be applicable to those who commit High Treason and those who kill an on duty police officer. But only on firm proof. There shold be no appeal and sentence should be immediate.

No matter how many other ugly crimes there are, I think these would be the ones we should be judged by.

Illegal warmongering and invasions, genocide, have a case for executions of human beings.

Basically, I am against it because justice is never pure and fair, and there is not rectifying mistakes.

I do not think it is strong deterrent. It is a deterrent, but may also be an encouragement and incitement to murder, if other criminal sentences are similiarly harsh.

Yes, I think if anyone rapes male or female. Murder. Molesting, anyone male female. Armed robbery. Kidnapping. Serious drug's. But it should only be without a shadow of a doubt. Both side's should not be allowed to with hold ANY evidence period, good or bad. Very good question!

I do not believe in capital punishment because if i was going to prison for murder i would rather be executed then spend the rest of my life in prison, i think it is more punishment to be alive and suffer then it is to be executed. but i believe that life should be life and also you may execute someone who really is Innocent
