Young girls who start their periods normally do not have "normal" periods every month. My cousin Emily started hers when she was 12 and only had a period about every 3-4 months until just recently and she is 15 now. Have her get a calendar and keep track of when she does have it and if the flow was heavy, light or medium and how she felt during that time of the month. This will help her discern when she'll have her periods and how long they will last. I know I have my cousin do that and it has helped her a lot. Don't worry too much about the fact she hasn't been having a period every month, she won't for awhile. Hope this helps her and you!

Well, it takes about a good 6-9 mos. for your cycle to regulate, so I wouldn't worry too much unless it's not here in a month or so. Then you may have to question if she's telling the truth about being a virgin. And believe me, being a Christian has nothing to do with virginity. I'm a Christian as well, and that didn't stop me from losing it before I was married. But of course no one knew that I wasn't a virgin anymore when I was still a teenager. Especially my family. I don't care how "cool" you are with her, if you're older than she is, I really doubt she'd tell you. There's always the risk that you'd slip up and tell her parents, and that's a chance I bet she's not willing to take. The only way to confirm the "virginity claim" is to take her to see a GYN, and if she doesn't get her period soon, that may be the only alternative.

If she has other symptoms, she should see a doctor to rule out any underlying problems. Otherwise, I don't think there should be anything to worry about otherwise.
Periods can be irregular when they first begin, and even after they have been established. Many women that are athletes and have a low percentage of body fat skip periods or stop them all together. I am sure they are not the majority, but some women have irregular periods their entire life. The "28 days" you hear about is really an average; every womans cycle is different.

If she is still a virgin, then she has nothing to worry about. A missed period does NOT always mean you are pregnant. I once missed my period for seven months. Naturally, i was worried, but it came back. Just tell your cousin to keep a close watch for any dramatic changes to her body and to stay a virgin until her period comes back.

After I had surgery when I was 11, I got my period for about 5 days. I didn't get another period until I was 14. The doctor said this was normal. Tell your cousin to go to a female doctor & discuss her concerns with the doctor.

It's normal for her to be missing periods at that age. She's only just started her cycle and she's going through puberty. Her hormones are all over the place and it may be a while before she becomes regular. Please tell her not to worry.
Maybe do some research and get both of you informed about it.

I first got my period when I was 13 and had a few regular periods after that, but then I went for six months without a period- i wasn't pregnant and my health was fine. many years later my periods are regular and have no problems with fertility.

Since she has just started having periods it is normal that she may miss one. Or not have regular periods. they may not last 5 days. They may just be lite and only 1-2 days. It will be very unpredictable until she gets a little older and her hormones regulate.

I wouldn't worry yet. It happened to me too when I was a virgin I skipped two months and started vomiting My mom swore I was pregnant, but I was still a virgin at that time. However, if it continues she may need to have a check-up just to make sure everything is normal.
