I think Freedom has a point. Usually these things are staged like that. However, if a person has the right body physiology, they may be able to squeeze their hands to the same thickness as the wrists and pull out naturally. (Maybe double-jointed people.) Also, there is a standard key for most models of handcuffs, but not all. If it's the cheap, single-lock variety, those are easy to pick with just a needle. However, maximum security variety, which require different keys, might require the physiology mentioned above.

Most handcuffs, even police handcuffs all use the same type of key.
