Not from a CD-Rom you need a DVD-Rom, no matter what kind of software you have. You can get a cheap DVD-Rom pretty cheap anymore...try Staples/BestBuy.

No. DVD drives (being newer technology) can read DVD and CD formats, but the reverse is not true.

CD drives (whether CD-ROM or CD-RW) can only read CDs.
