it is a few interesting reads. it has to do with my favorite band, judas priest. it gives a good insight into why 2 boys killed themselves. they claim the band sent subliminal messages & "made them do it" because they played the record backwards.

you surely might want to wish to evaluation to be open-minded. i'll call a favorite band from the 70's to now... 70's - Boston 80's - Poison, for particular ninety's - Goo Goo Dolls (particular even the former albums, it truly is why they're ninety's) and 00's - Coheed and Cambria ^ That record is challenge to modify contained in the subsequent month. you surely may be prepared to progression. do no longer enable your self get stuck up in a unmarried decade, on condition that you'll with the help of no means hear it everywhere else. of route there'll be BANDS or SOUNDS you dislike, it truly is song. yet once you certainly isn't in a position to face something it really isn't 80's and also you opt for something similar... seem at Bang Camaro as a very last inn. surely basically with the help of reality song you want isn't mainstream, would not recommend it really is genuinely lengthy previous.

I grew up on heavy metal and still listen to it, I'm not dead yet. There was a big to do about some such nonsense in the 80's. The first big case was with Judas Priest, who was in turn cleared of everything. There was also stuff going around about AC/DC being devil worshippers and just about every other heavy metal or hard rock band was putting subliminal messages in thier songs. Just a bunch of crap from people who do not like hard rock music. As if listening to a song will make you commit suicide. One would have to have a lot more serious mental health issues to do that to oneself.

it's not metals fault that some teenagers went and shot themselves...the first was Ozzy's suicide solution that landed the metal boys in court...because the lyrics say suicide is always better...Ozzy was referring to suicide being better then drinking or drug addiction because it was a personal hell for him...the next court case was revolved around Judas Priest's Stained Glass album...two kids shot themselves after listening to that album all afternoon and the parents wanted to pass the blame from themselves onto the musicians who made an album...I am sorry but I have been a metal fan for 25 years and have listened to all of the music listed above and have never done myself in...bad parenting and social insecurities cause suicide, not a freaking song!
btw, neither Judas Priest or Ozzy were found guilty and charges were thrown out of court by both judges, but these cases and Tipper Gore led to the Parental Advisory warning labels you see on cds now...which backfired because it helped boost the sales of albums which carried the warning label...nice try Tipper...lol

Metal does NOT cause suicides. Everyone misunderstands suicides and blames it on music. When really, poor upbringing and abusive households cause suicides. Suicidal teenagers relate to heavy metal, but the music does not cause suicides. Believe me, I've read up on this stuff.

They said that if you listened to a certain Judas Priest song backwards it gave messages about killing yourself. Someone also claimed the same thing about some kids that killed themselves after listening to the song Suicide Solution by Ozzy Osbourne. I think both of these were eventually thrown out of court. I think it was a bunch of crap. If someone kills himself his problems run a lot deeper than some songs lyrics. I think the parents of these kids just wanted to find someone else to blame for the mistakes they made with their kids.

If you aren't already, you should watch the VH1 special on heavy metal. It's on as I type this....If you miss it, check online to see if it'll be re-braodcast....
Anyway, there really was no *definitive* proof that metal *caused* the suicides you mention as far as I know.

It didn't cause suicides.
The accusations were made by parents who didn't want to accept responsibility for the death of their children or who wanted to make a quick buck out of it.
Both Ozzy and Judas Priest were sued, and both were CLEARED in a court of law.
It was a non-issue.

nothing is bad about metal. people are just misguided and lost and look to much into the meanings of the songs. it just happened that songs and titles(suicide solution/ozzy) and bands(suicidal tendencies) were popular at that time. not much help or education for people to turn to.

A certain kind of person listens to dark heavy depressive music.
Same kind of person might be in the statistical
group that tends to suicide.
A lot of those people smoke cigarettes.
There is a relationship between these factoids
but it is not causal.
