In case you have been asleep for the last 50 years, you will have missed something.
A huge rise in the cost of living. The economy isn't what it used to be.
Women joining the workforce and doing things outside the home isn't 100% due to the feminist movement. It is due to today's insane cost of living. It's due to capitalism. There's been alot of talk lately about how the middle class is starting to fade and the rising gap between the rich/wealthy and the poor.
Alot of people, men and women alike, have to fight just to survive in this world especially if you are poor.
Women that have jobs or do anything outside the home is just another form of trying to survive.
If you give these women flack for it, you give flack to the poor and working poor that are only trying to survive and trying to make a life for themselves and for their families.

I agree with what Penny said.

Unless you plan on paying your utility bills groceries, clothing, school and work supplies, hygiene upkeep, travel expenses, mortgage, vet bills, emergency hospital runs, possible health defects in kids, medications, college loans, and entertainment expenses of you your wife and however many kids you decide to have all by yourself with a $50K salary, than your wife needs to work at least while your kids are babies.

It's the times we live in.

The cost of living is much higher than it was in the 1950s where women could stay home and the family kept food on the table and lights on at night.

Why do men think that women shouldn't think that they should have jobs or do anything outside the house?

Let me point out that I know the isn't the opinion of all men and women- just a few of the narrowminded people who don't realise that 1950's left many years ago.

If I can get by the fact that this quesiton is worded in a potentially offending way, I guess I can answer the question by saying that women need to accomplish things. Really, I'd feel like a useless parasite if I stayed at home all day, even if I did do housework and raise kids. There's just something about getting out there and contributing what you know to the world.

Hell, I need a job just to be able to afford the electric bill fuel charges and gas lately... I keep praying it'll go back to normal but... no such luck, I have a feeling were gonna get milked like cows on his way out.

I have been home for almost a year and a half now and I honestly may have to go back to work soon!

because we are living in the 21st century. we dont need to sit at home and deal with mens crap just because they "bring home the bacon". we have minds of our own and dont need a man telling us we dont. contrary to popular belief, us women are NOT hear to please you men! if we wanna work outside the house, go to school and have a kid and husband all at the same time, thats what we're gonna do. keep looking guy. there are still some women out there with no motivation and no spine that should make you a nice bare-foot and pregnant wife.

Society has changed, and many women have to get jobs if they want their family to eat.

As far as "doing anything out of the house".. are you suggesting that women should not even leave the house? That's unreasonable.

We live in a day and age when women do not need men to support them 100%. Some women still do enjoy staying at home and taking care of the children while other women are more happy supporting themsleves and living their lives in any way they please.

All women and men have the choice to do one or the other, as afforded to them in prosperous industrialized nation. That is part of the joy of living in a free democratic society.
