Like in Aladdin, when no one thinks to pass the lamp to Jasmine, or the Sultan to wish the Genie free (or to keep Aladdin a prince) or in Brother Bear 2, when the girl actually voluntarily turns into a bear so the bear can stay with his litle brother. Hello, take the little brother with you and stay human!! I am forced to watch this stuff with my kids and I feel like my brain is oozing out of my head. Why can't cartoons be even a little bit realistic?

I never thought of that... now that I do, though, I think you're right. And They probably do think kids won't notice that stuff, when I was younger, and I watched those things (minus brother bear two) I never though of that stuff... but I'm older now, and I notice that kind of stuff a lot more often! You can find me siting in front of my television critisizing any movie that's on, even the real ones.
Good point, though.

First, as a parent, I can emphasize with you! My son is finally age 15 but when he was younger, we saw a LOT of awful movies made for kids. And some good ones too. I thought Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers was well done. But then again, my brain oozed too.

It is like watching The Terminator No. #2. When Sarah Conner is trying to kill Dyson in his home, silencer or no silencer (it is a sound supressor, not a silencer; any bullet over 22 caliber in size cannot be completely silenced in sound), unless he lived on 5 acres of land, SOMEONE must have heard the gun, the glass breaking, the yelling "run, JUST RUN," etc. Of course not, no cops come. Nothing. Movies are AN ESCAPE from reality. If they were made as life really was, we would not go see them.

So the best thing I can tell you is EVENTUALLY your kids get older, so you will watch movies ALL OF YOU LIKE. For now, Curious George is coming to the screen.

God Help You when it does!

If you'd like to see realistic cartoon drama that deals in reality instead of nonsensical choices or surrealism/supernatural, check the stores for DVDs of an old MTV series called "Daria." It was aired from 1996 to 2001, and there are 2 movies associated with the series. If your kids are middle school age or older, they would probably get a kick out of it too.

I think that creative artists are commanded to avoid any type of objectionable subject matter which could jeoprodize their "G" rating from the MPAA resulting in the revocation of numerous licensing and merchanidising agreements and, most importantly, a dramatic decline in revenue.

Generations of people have commented on how they experience a true sense of anxiety and loss when Bambi's mother dies in a forest fire. Thus, no animation studio or movie production company wishes to be saddled a similarly infamous reputation - "Don't work with them, they still think it's appropriate to make children's movies where characters die."

As a result, a narratuive flow comes to dominate where character and chronology begin to deteriorate and the viewer finds the "cartoon movie" stars to collapse on itself as only 'kiddie fare' can.

I know what you mean. They probably think kids don't think of stuff like that.
