Today a guy at the grocery store asked me if I was having twins. When I told him no, he looked completely shocked. I could've kicked him! What insensitive comments have ppl made to you when you were pregnant?

Let's see. I was 17 when I got pregnant (first strike) I wasn't married (second strike) I didn't have a job (third strike). I constantly recieved comments about what a shame it was that I was pregnant and how my child was going to grow up on welfare and without a father. I still get looks and comments when I go to walmart with my children (I now have a second daughter). The strange thing was, My fiance was working a lot when I was pregnant (the reason he wasn't with me everywhere i went). We've NEVER been on welfare. My fiance (he fathered BOTH my children) and I are getting married next year. We both have great jobs (He's a supervisor in a foundry and I do data entry) just bought 2 new cars, and we're getting a house in a year or 2. Not doing too bad for a single teen mom don't you say? lol

Sorry...lol I tend to get too into this.

The worst is when you are not even pregnant and someone asks you when you are due! But I sympathize with you, because people are insensitive. I remember someone asking me too if I was having twins, or better yet if i was having a boy because apparently my butt was too big, a sure sign of a boy to this person. How rude! Just brush it off, maybe kicking some shin wouldn't hurt either. LOL

A lady at work told me that I am so big that I am going to have to have somebody pull me around in a wagon! How rude. And she is a very large woman. I think she thought she was being cute, but i didn't think so. I also had the twin question, even though I'm not having twins.

My husband was in the military (Navy) during both of my pregnancies. I think the comment I heard the most from his co-workers was that Hubby should paint "BLIMP" on my sides. I always replied that I hoped that they weren't thinking about becoming fathers at any time. When one guy actually asked me why, I replied that the number of insensitive stupid people in the world was already too high, we didn't need that type procreating. I never heard a word about "Blimp" during my second pregnancy! ;-)

I experienced the same thing when a girl at toysRus asked me if I was having twins. I also had a guy tell me he could see my face filling out. People really need to learn what not to say to a pregnant women. We are already oversensitive and most worry about their weight.

Not too many in "real life," but I run into a lot of idiotic people here in Yahoo Answers, like this one yesterday when I asked about a certain medication that my doctor had just put me on:

"you're pregnant and on meds?
i am sure your deformed baby will thank you for that."

Nice. Real mature.

This isn't actually my story, it is my friend's who is due in 6 weeks. A lady she works with told her that if it's a boy you dont lose your beauty, but if it' a girl, a girl will take away your beauty. So at first she was like, "oh you are definately having a boy, you are so beautiful still." And then some days she's like, "mmmm, I dont know maybe it is a girl." And my friend is like, oh great thanks, are you telling me I'm ugly now?
