G'day CiaraMariahChris fan,
Thanks for your question.
It depends on what sort of story you are writing. Is it fiction or non-fiction.
These are some suggestions for generating a story.
1. Carry a small notebook around and jot down ideas as they come to you.
2. Keep your mind open. Something that happens to you, a friend or relative might have potential as a story.
3. Take a bus ride around your city or town and see if there is a person or thing that you could potentially write about.
4. Look through newspapers or magazines for interesting stories to serve as a starting point for your story.
5. Select an event from your life and give it a different conclusion.
6. Write a story about something that happened to a friend or relative.
7. Start writing a journal for 15 minutes and see how you go.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Regards

The other night my daughter could not sleep. She woke up several times during the evening and seemed to be scared a lot. Then the next night she was fine and went to bed by herself without me having to put her down, even though she didn't seem tired. She told her mom that she went to bed early because her Grandmother played with her and tucked her in and told her a story. She has never met her Grandmother because she died 10 years ago and my daughter is only 3. I only knew who she was talking about because she showed me her picture when I asked who she was talking about. She doesn't call anyone Grandma so I had to wonder.

A war story. The horror of what really goes on during a war. Men's stories of their lives, their families, their childhood, their struggles, their schooling. The agony of their death.
An animal that witnesses a murder - from HIS point of view...(in his own words)
A poor girl wins the lottery. Nobody knows of her past and suddenly she is the "new girl in town."
A ghost story. A boy has been seeing something his whole life, and suddenly as matures, he realizes that what his mother has always referred to as his "invisible friend" is actually a ghost.
Ugly, fat girl with life of misery - car wreck - parents killed, moved as hopeless case to hospital in another state. (where Aunt lives)Wakes up after death's door experience with plastic surgery that makes her beautiful, and skinny. Nobody recognizes her. Then goes back to where she was tormented and gets even.

What do you know about?
If you're short on ideas, there's a great little book called the writers block which is literally just thousands of pages of pictures and ideas to spark your imagination.

Answer this:
What angers you?
What makes you happy?
If you had superhuman strength or lots of money or some other advantage, how would you use your advantage to stop what angers you?
How would this affect what makes you happy?
You should write about your answers.
