We have two computers, one for my husband and I, and then then another one for the kids. We refused to hook it up in their bedroom, we put it downstairs near the living-room where we can see everything their doing. We have the parental blocks on, and they aren't even allowed to turn the computer on unless my husband or I are in the room.
My kids are still pretty young, but children are learning in Kindergarten how to use a computer. My seven year old amazes me how much he knows regarding computers! As the kids get older and they don't want me to look over their shoulders and read their emails, I'll respect that, but we will be making the occasional "Glance" at the computer to make sure they're safe. We also will never allow computers in their bedrooms.
People might think we go a little too far with this, but I would rather be safe then sorry. I've seen too many true stories about kids being killed by people they have met on-line, and I want to do everything in my power to prevent my child from falling victim to one of these perverts that hurt children. I'm sure that most of the people who have had kids killed by Internet predators were great parents, they just didn't know what was going on. So I think if nothing else, we owe it to these children that have died, and to our own kids to make sure we do everything in our power to prevent another child murder by these creepy people.

My children do not use the internet... I made sure they know how, they just don't.

Especially not here! Yahoo games if anywhere and I am never too far behind.

I don't think many parents do, but at least some people make an effort to find out. But there are some rather useless parents who have to deal with their latest MySpace tragedy.

well my parents kno who im talking to most of the time because i tell them when they ask. my parents trust me but since my dad doesnt live with me, he has this program where you can log in to any computer if he has the computer password. i think its called LogMeIn. and he can be following what i do when i IM with my friends. im not even allowed to talk to strangers so..i only talk to school friends and family. you should trust your kids!! kids hate when you dont trust them. especially if they're teens..

Does anyone really know who they're talking to on the internet? Unless it's someone you know offline, you can't know if they are who they say they are.
To answer your question: No, my parents don't know unless I'm talking to my aunt or my boyfriend.

Still a teenager but if I were to be an adult with children, then I'll find out sooner or later through suspicion.

I am a kid and no they don't have a clue.
Actually it is kind of sad that parents are so easy to fool.
It becomes a game.

I wish they didn't know how to use Internet. I wish they would follow my example and stay away from chat rooms, IM's, IRC's, etc.
