while we are "freer" than some in other countries we are not very free.
in order to gain freedom you must lose security.
in order to gain security you must lose freedom.
I've never been to fond of security anyway, feels like a noose around my neck.
and to answer your question, it's because Cuba is still communist and everyone knows how much the US hates communists, how dare someone have a different idea about how things should be done than we do, and Castro overthrew a US backed government, how terrible, to have someone think that a native should make the decisions instead of a greedy empire.

No, i do no longer agree. The extra that the easy people of Cuba see of the yank way of life the extra they're going to like it themselves. this is the way it rather works. back till now the autumn of the Berlin Wall, tens of millions of people trapped on the incorrect factor of it used to song in to West German television - have been given all the severe-kicking females on a Saturday nighttime, the sport shows, the soaps and so on. What this did replaced into to coach all of them into Westerners - capitalists interior the making. If it rather is not already being carried out, why isn't American television being beamed into Cuba so as that Cubans can a minimum of savor what's on furnish and what they comprehend they want and gets finally besides. Castro is a death guy. quickly he will now no longer be somewhat of the sport. uncertain who's taking on or who has already taken over, yet they won't have as much as a pinch of Castro's air of secrecy and capacity over the people. This guy actually hypnotised his objective marketplace with 5 hours speeches.

We are a free country, yes, but there are restrictions even here. You can't have absolute freedom to do whatever you want. For example, you can't go into your neighbors house without their permission, you can't kill your neighbor, etc.
Cuba's government is communist, and communism by its definition is anti-american. i know what you're probably thinking, what about Red China? Well, i agree, we shouldn't be having loose and friendly relations with a country that pays its workers slave wages and violates any and all human rights whenever it deems fit to do so. Does anyone remember Tian An Mein square? Futher, China is still hard line communist, following the tried and true communist principle of "one step back for two steps forward" This was similiar to the policies the soviet union used to appease the peasants while they consolidated their revolution.
Like Cuba, we should not have such warm and fuzzy relations with the bloodthirsty communist leadership in China.

Tourism was a huge industry in Cuba before the Communist regime took over. The US gov't doesn't want American dollars supporting a Communist economy.

Real freedom ended in this country decades ago. Were it not for the draconian consequences, I would travel to cuba in a minute.

Cuz Cuba is a threat to democracy and it's out gov't's obligation to protect its citizens from such an evil system as communism. Anyways, i think you can go to Cuba if you want to, i've heard of people going there, but maybe it's just me... who knows?

US Citizens can travel to Cuba legally. I think one is not allowed to purchase ANYTHING, or maybe spend ANY money. We are free still to do whatever if we are willing to face the consequences.
