everyone was told how he died, how far does curiousity have to go, can people not use their brains to imagine how this was, they have to actually see it, we were told that it is excruciatingly painful, death is usually a private thing, can we all watch yours?

I think with JFK the problem was that it was airing on TV as it happened. There was no turning back plus there was the whole who done it thing to the JFK vid.
With Irwin there is no need for people to see it. Its a private moment that should be respected if not for the family then for Steve himself.
People that want to see it should really consider why they want to see it what purpose will it serve them?
ITs twisted if you ask me to want to see someones death. They wont even televise executions why whould they show this good innocent mans death over murderers.

I find their interest rather pornographic, though I'm not surprised. This is the sort of thing that should be upsetting to view. I don't want the images of someone's dreadful death in my head to enter my dreams. There is something obscene about watching a real death on film. It is somehow more obscene, even, than going out of one's way to see violent and graphic death in a movie. I didn't see "The Passion of the Christ" for this selfsame reason and found the multitudes who did rush to see it rather creepy...and those who took their children to see it creepiest of all.
For all those children who adored Steve Irwin, the impact of film footage of his death could be very damaging - the moral of that story is, "Okay, so he was a great guy, a brave guy, a conservationist, and his reward is a horrible, painful, accidental death. That's what happens when you make a brave, unconventional endeavor."

I will not judge you for your morbid curiousity, but that is what it is, like it or not. Some morbid curiousity doesn't necessarily make a person morbid, over all. The sick-os are the ones who would watch the video & laugh! Or worse yet, get aroused!
But caring for the wishes of the next of kin is very much appropriate.

That people are 'curious' about something like this does not mitigate the fact that people's fascination in Irwin's (or any death video) is ghoulish.
Curiosity doesn't absolve morbidity.

The ONLY *VALID* reason to watch that video is to LEARN about the particular species of rays that Steve was working with. Steve would probably be ~ok~ with that since it would be an educational thing.
I feel sorry for his family that that video will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
Yes, most people want to see it for the WRONG reasons which is extremely DISrespectful of both Steve and his family.

I guess maybe because he was world famous, and people have this need to see his final moments. Those who don't feel it's right get upset over those who do want to see it mainly because they feel it's wrong. People like to push their ideas on others. Personally, I hope it's never shown...it would be too tragic if his wife or kids ever saw it by accident. They've been through enough.

People, as a rule, get upset and disapproving about anything that is outside their own scope of experience and interests.
Why they do it is beyond me.
I mean, how many of us had to sit through holocoust videos in High School?

Unfortunately, they will show video because it will boost ratings. But you are right. They show JFK's death all the time. That's what happens when you are in the public eye.

I think that I would happily agree with you if it were your husband you wanted to show dying or your mom or child. When they do die, film the entire thing and show the world and then come back and let us know if it bothers you.
