Get a good color chart of the elements and stare at it for a bit. Even if you don't have a somewhat photographic memory, you'll be able to remember it if you just keep trying. Look away from it, close your eyes and try to remember. Then look again and keep doing it till you know it. It helps to understand the reason behind the numbers and names too.

Isn't there a movie that a sing-song of exactly that? Find that movie and you will have the sing-song already for you to memorize. Wish I could remember the title.

As sillly as it sounds, sing them out loud. You use a different part of the brain when you sing. Record what you sing and listen to it over and over, including when you are sleeping.
