People are so judgemental because there is always a large segment of society that wants to feel morally superior to others because they themselves lack self-esteem and are insecure. Take a look at Al Gore and the environazis, or the crusading vegans who protest everything. Those very critical of marijuana users are just a different type. Pay no heed to them.

Because cigs and alcohol are legal and therefore a more socially acceptable addiction. As to the damage caused by marijuana, in the form of a joint it can carry more carcinogens than cigs. But there are other forms of use. Compared to alcohol it’s pretty harmless and in respect to addictions is only psychological where as nicotine and alcohol are physiological addictions. Medical science however does not agree with you on memory loss and neither do I, there’s some pretty hazy periods in my memory, from both weed and alcohol.
As to the gateway theory... it has absolutly no scientific backing, in fact every study Ive seen shows that in the absence of marijuana a much more harmfull drug takes its place, not a reduction in the number of drug users.

Why smoke it? It's not the drug I disagree with, it's the delivery. Why would you want to subject your body to ten times the tar (and other bad stuff) that is in the average cig? I say eat your pot, then you don't smell like pot, and none of it blows away in the breeze. I guess it would be a more common practice if there was a safer way to take a measured dose, but there has to be a healthier way than smoking.

Many of us know, after seeing too many good friends' minds lost to seemingly innocuous drugs such as marijuana, that it is a powerful and dangerous drug.
It may seem harmless now; but when you're trying to stretch your mind to perform a seemingly simple skill or intellectual exercise in middle age, perhaps you will then understand how THC and all the other noxious, harmful substances in marijuana have robbed you of your intellect. But by then, of course, it will be too late.
You seem like an otherwise fairly intelligent person. I strongly urge you to give up marijuana before it permanently impairs your brain.

Most people are not against the users, but the drug. You are young. If you have read properly about the effects that pot leaves you with, that is what us judgemental people are talking about. You young pot heads, don't show the after math of using drugs. BUT your day is coming. When you get beyond middle age, the side effects will show its face.

I have known many people that started out on pot, and couldn't get a good high any more. They are on to heavy drugs, some are dead. Some are dead because of being high on pot. It isn't cool.

the problem is pot is called a "drug" and the other things that go along with that word are terrible. Plus there are so many lies put out there about pot that unless one has personal experience its very easy to misjudge.

Fact is vast majority of pot smokers graduate to biger & obviously more illegal drugs... especially younger people.
