My impression is that Indian women try to conform to a vocal beauty ideal which rewards high pitch. It is most evident in current entertainment music and movies from Bollywood - maybe check it out?

that's an interesting question. well, arabian women all have dainty, high voices, but then again, the men, uh, don't. chinese men do, but the women don't. i'm gonna randomly say canada. no one really talks there anyway.
