I know that the Pentium 4 processors are socket 478, but I am not sure if all of the P4s are socket 478. I have a Pentium 4 930(I think...)
running at 3.0ghz, and I wanted to know the socket number. Please answer me with detail! ^^
Also, I am asking this because I wanted to buy like a Zalman CPU fan or something, but I have no idea if my CPU is socket 478... Please tell me! And suggest me a low price, good performance CPU cooler.

Price range of $10 - $50

At that speed, your is probably socket 478. The very earliest P4's introduced were socket 423. That was quickly abandoned in favor of Socket 478, and recently Socket 478 has been phased out in favor of LGA 775 (The Prescott & cedar Mill P4, the Pentium D and Core 2 Duo processors use this socket)

As for coolers, I defer to others- I prefer the AMD chips- well, with the exception of Core 2 Duo ;)

No, they also come in 775. 98% if the CPU has HyperThreading, it is a socket LGA775. The pentium 4. Also known as a Pentium D 930, is a socket LGA 775.

Why advance to a P4 2.4ghz? If this is the utmost the mobo can run, then ok (nonetheless susceptible) yet max that difficulty out. Or spend $30 extra and get far extra effective mobo and cpu. to confirm what's nicely appropriate which includes your mobo, you're gonna ought to furnish us the mobo form huge variety or the make/style of the computer.
