whenever you start having sex is when you should ask. And ask for condoms. But if you don't want her to know its for sex say you need them to regulate your period.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you are more mature. I think that is the way to approach it - by demonstrating maturity. And so the mature way is to basically explain how it is to her advantage to help you get the pills by explaining that you realize that the pill is not something that allows you to forget everything your family stands for but something that allows you to take more responsibility for your future. But only say these things of you mean them - above all you have to be honest because if you're not then you will lose one of the most important things that you have with your Mom - trust. And once you lose it, it is extremely, extremely difficult to get back.

Good Luck!

The fact that you want to talk to your parents about it shows a lot of maturity. It is the right thing to do if you are having sex ( or want to have sex) and don't want an unwanted pregnancy. I hope your parents are understanding people. Tell them the truth. You don't need to go into grizzly details, but tell them sex is a possibility for you, and that you'd rather be responsible about your actions. Good luck!

Well my dear young girl if you feel as if your going to be having sex I suppose its better to have you on the pill but I think that 16 is such a tender age and you really should try as hard as you can to wait until you find the guy you think your going to marry. You really will feel better about yourself for years to come.

Tell her that you do not plan on having sex -but that you feel like you would like to be prepared incase something happened. Tell her that you are doing your best to make informed decisions and that you would like to get birth control. She will respect you for making a mature choice.

If she is approachable you can be honest with her. When I was 16 I went to Planned Parenthood and got birth control by myself and didn't tell my parents. At least you are thinking responsibly.

You wait until you are married and then you and your husband decide if you want to wait to have children or not.
At 16 you should not be worrying about birth control, you should be having sexless fun

Before you start having sex. It's a little late since you are already doing it. She probably won't be happy that you are, but be honest with her.

Be honest about it, I think she should understand. She'd probably rather have you on the pill than having a kid.
