I am taking English Composition in college right now, and I can't come up with a topic good enought to write 8 different times and 8 different ways. The one due on Monday is a narrative about the subject. What is better -

-talking about how people should listen to rock more than rap

-talking about how myspace is not just for perverts

-how radio broadcasting is cool and why I like it

-something else you can suggest.

I'm totally having writer's block.

I'm kind of actually thinking about writing how it's impossible to choose one good topic. The other option she gave us was to write a short story or a movie script.

I wouldn't write why it's hard to pick a good topic because the teacher will misjudge you and misgrade you. I would use the myspace one because it can be related to people your age and it's controversial.

Well, if you want to write about rock music I would write about the American 60's and 70's which is a very interesting time, definitely for music.

If I was you though I would write a short story, but writing is very easy for me. It sounds like it may be easy for you also, but you are just having one of those moments where everything you seem to think about writing seems stupid.

OK, try not to concentrate so hard because in my experience it doesn't do anything but make you more aggravated. Take some deep breaths and do something to clear your mind. Then just think about what all the different time periods in history and all the changes and how people react to certain things and so on. Don't worry about what other people find the most interesting, but what you feel the most interested in. What do you know most about? What ever that is, then write about that.

Good luck and all the best!

I took that class and I understand what you going through. Well, i have a couple of suggestions
You can write about the misconceptions of any profession/ career, say the Army. Most people believe everyone in the army fights battles but that's a misconception, though the army has one primary goal, defence, it consists of different professionals, nurses, doctors, accountants and many more. All work together to achieve a common goal "defense" by doing different things not necessarily fight wars. you can be in the army and never fight wars.

writing about this is simple has your thesis can be about the misconception of a career. If you're writing on the army, your paragraphs can be divided into different careers in the army and include in each how they work to achieve the army's primary goal which is defence. I don't want to bore you but i have many more suggestions in case you don't like this one

i like all of your topics. i would choose the one that you know the most about and would not let you lose time on research like the radio broadcasting. i think that is a good topic and if your comp class was like mine you have to have a certain number of words. another topic you could use is how our society is more technology driven than ever, since the dawn of the industrial age.
However since you are pressed for time choose the radio broadcasting.

All the topics except for the radio brodcasting one would get old very fast. I think you should do Radio Brodcasting and why you like it, because you should have a lot of good reasons you can say in many different ways.

The problem there is that you have to write about it 8 times, and that's going to just make it more difficult to keep it interesting, but, that's something that you will have to figure out.. and make sure it's on something that you like, otherwise, YOU'LL be bored with it, by the third one and it'll show.

Write about the political divide in America. Endless subject, endless subtopics. You don't have to take sides. Just talk about how polarized we are as a society.

It has to be something you are interested in. The radio thing sounds like it would offer lots of options.
