First, get rid of EVERTHING that you haven't used in a year.
Don't let yourself use the bathroom in the morning until your bed is made.
Keep a laundry basket in your closet and always dump your clothes there immediately after taking them off.
Same with trash, before you go to bed, if there is any trash, stuff you don't need any more, things not put away, don;t let yourself go to bed until the stuff is put or thrown away.
Only think about cleaning your room ONCE a week...make the other stuff habit. Don;t let yourself go out on Friday Night until your room has been dusted and vacuumed at least once in the week.

Ok you sound like me. I tried a ton of things and I have to admire people who can use planners or PDA's. I find that if I keep a legal pad with me and just jot all my notes for the day on that it keep everything that in my head on paper in one place. Then at night when I get home I do all the things I have to do off that legal pad. I oversee several employees and something I have gotten all my managers to do to help me is to send a fax whenever they need equipment or any supplies that I handle ordering for them. That way again, when I get home, the information is in one place and I knock out a huge amount of stuff like that. As far as keeping your room tidy.........umm.......I tend to PILE and not FILE. The best thing I have found is to try and handle things only one time. If you pick it up off your desk, read it and do whatever has to be done with it right then. If you walk in your room with clothes......put them away right then........dont lay them down and tell yourself you will put them away later. About once a month I go thru this purging stage where I throw a bunch of stuff away to keep things more orderly. It has taken me a long time to get and stay organized. But once you do the handle things one time deal........you will find yourself becoming more organized and its also a pretty rewarding feeling!
Good luck

Allow youself enough time to clean up after yourself. For example, if you wait until the last minute get up and get ready to leave for work or school, you won't have time to pick up afer yourself before leaving the house.
Definitely donate as much stuff as you can. I do that throughout the year. Whatever you can donate is tax deductible and will help someone else. You can also have a garage sale to earn extra money from those things you don't need or want anymore.
If you want to be organized, you need to get the tools that make you organized That means creating a file system for papers and mail. Find a place for everything and always put it back in the same place after each use. You'll never lose anything again if you do that.
Stores in the West like Lowes, Home Depot, Fred Meyer, and Safeway have lots of bins and baskets for organizing. Whatever you get, make sure they match so they will look attractive and organized on shelves. Group things together that will be used together, like pencils, pens, paper. Fill them with everything from miscellaneous stuff you need like scissors and tape, to off season clothing.
I recently bought a laundry sorter off the internet for around $50. It required some assembly, but is made from tubular steel, has three canvas laundry bins, a hanging rack at the top with a shelf above that, and is on casters. It keeps your laundry sorted from the time you take off your clothes. You can wheel it from bedroom to laundry room if you live on one level, and you can hang clean shirts from the rack. The canvas bags can be removed and washed too. I wrote Color, Dark, Whie on respective individual bags and it's made sorting a snap. If you need to go up and down stairs, you can lift the entire bag of one color of dirty clothes out, and carry it to the laundry room.

Use the Freecycle.org to find your local group so you can give things that are useful to new homes or take to the not for profit centres.
MY motto is don't handle things twice so like others have said if you take it off either put it away or put in laundry bin,
same with rubbish, drop it in the bin not on the floor or bedside table or desk.
HAve your current book and your next one close by, all others on the shelf.
Keep surfaces as clear as possible so you can dust easily.
strip your bed, make your bed and then vacuum, so you clear up the dust created when stripping the bed.
hope this helps.
It takes a bit of effort in the beginning but then becomes a habit. then it is easy. :-)

positioned a huge laundry basket contained during the room and drop each and everything it extremely is out of place into it. Taking a while, positioned issues back into their ideal place, thinking first in the event that they might desire to pass in a 'unload' container; take the contents of the 'unload' container and sell them or take them to a charity shop. dangle a poster on your room saying 'Do i choose it? Do i choose it? enable it pass and don't purchase yet another.' Tidy your drawer a sprint each and every time you could desire to open it, cabinets additionally. stuff you won't have the ability to get rid of considering you like it, put in a 'treasure' container. you additionally could make person-friendly cardboard packing containers look sturdy on your room via adorning them with previous wallpaper or undeniable paper and colored pens, or comedian pages and so on. Mark each and each container with what you decide directly to put in it consisting of 'treasure' 'schoolwork' and so on

first of all, eliminate what you havent used lately, and as far as your closet goes... if you ha
vent worn it in a years time, donate it! So many times we keep all the little stuff, and all we do with it, is stuff it someplace. Just try something new and toss what isnt being used, although practical, not neccessary.

Simplify and get rid of clutter. That means get rid of "stuff". If you haven't used it or worn it in 4 months chuck it. limit yourself to a predetermined number of each type of item. File bills, and important papers in a real file, or file box.
