I've read "The Death of the West" and "Where the Right Went Wrong" and I have to say, they were among the best books I've read lately. Regardless of what you think of his politics (I happen to agree with him), you have to admit that he is a brilliant historian.

Yes, Jim B, we always have to take into account the writer's or reporter's own views and separate them. I don't think his books are a new bible, just a great source of historical facts and very compelling arguments. He is one source of information among many. Ultimately I make up my own mind too.

Dinodino, I think he is both. He gives excellent historical background, then offers his opinions.

Remember as you read, this is how he sees things. You need to know more about him before you can say he is right or wrong. I do not read how Joe Blow sees life. I am more intrested in how Jim B sees life. I will watch world news and fox and cnn and talk to friends I have from around the world and I will make up my mind on my own. We don't need a new bible with a god named Pat Buchanan.

Pat Buchanan is extremist, his recommendations are thoroughly off the wall. Or a minimum of often they are. via all potential examine it, it could in basic terms help you recognize better others (even the extremists have some reasoning at the back of their recommendations/procedures), yet keep in mind the kind of individual Buchanan is and don't be swayed too extremely.

He's not a historian he's an "opinionator". He is too biased to be a good historian.

No I haven't read his books, but I watch him on TV every week.

I have read several reviews of his latest book and I must say that his basic premise is absurd.
