Probably for the same reason that straight guys experiment with gay guys, or that anybody experiments with various sexual practices. To see what it is like. To find out if they are really gay (or really straight). To prove they can. Because as gay as they know they are, the girl is really sexy, and wants him and he's got a lot of hormones to spare. Lots of reasons. Doesn't make him any less gay.

I think that most people on a scale of 1 to 10 ten being toally gay and one being totally straight, that most people 90% would be shocked to find out that they are a five.

Most people who have homosexual tendencies are actually bi-sexual. Most have a preference, and that preference may be same-sex or opposite-sex. But just like any other preference, it's not always exclusive.
I prefer brunettes, as a general preference. Most blondes I don't find as attractive. But there are exceptions. Same with anything else.

They are probably younger.
I am a lesbian and when I was in my late teens and early 20s, I experimenting with sex with a male... concluding it just wasn't for me.
Younger gay ppl are seeking to find confirmation of their idenitity.
