"It's the economy, stupid".

Knowing that the word "stupid" is the most highly used word on YA, who does it refer to as it was used in that context?

You? Me? The gullible public?

Other slogans just fell by the wayside with that one, like the Bush 1 slogans.."New world order", "Kinder, gentler America"...and "Read my lips, no new taxes". They came and went, did they mean anything at all to you?

Or, just political bull feathers?

Lenard, you're years behind the times. Now "It's the Iraq war, stupid."

To clarify - it was their way of telling their opponents that the people would vote their pocket book, and at that time G Bush Sr was not paying attention to the economy. Fast forward - "W" says he never pays attention to the polls and drug Republicans with him into the war on Iraq. People have now found out that the war in Iraq was a war of choice, which is going to be the Number 1 issue this fall.

At the time it was pretty much directed at daddy Bush, who during that campaign just didn't get it that the economy was waaay more important this his Persian Gulf Triumph or the latest book about Millie.

Nope, George Sr. just kept telling us great things were and got his butt voted out of office.

I think the best political campaign slogan was Reagan's "Morning in America," back in 1984.

Apparently the word 'stupid' refers to the person actually using that word. Think of it as a signature, of sorts. Mostly it's political bullshit that I'll ignore as I stick with the President in what's going on.

As I said earlier it is a power trip. They want to be king of the mountain and will say or do anything to have that kind of power.
Take any man and say, you say this and you will be the president.
He is going to say it. Even if he doesn't believe a word of what he is saying. wouldn't you?
