i was wondering if it made it slower or anything?

No Cindy R, it does not slow it down, this method was originally designed by Micorsoft for the Laptop's to save battery power, but somehow, the desktop's have to put up with this useless feature, and if you use a desktop, BE CAREFUL, alot of people that I have Tech Supported had problems coming out of standby or hibernation.. The PC sometimes refuses too, or locks up and causes a Reboot. Good Luck

I have used the standby feature regularly for at least 2 years now (Windows XP) and have encountered no problems.
