I'm not going to tell you what color to paint it, but I will warn you against making the same mistake I made. I wanted ours to be a real pretty pale yellow. I chose a color from the little paint samples the store had, the little one inch by one inch squares, and my husband went to pick the paint up from the store. The next day I went somewhere, and my husband invited a friend over to help paint the house. I come home and the house is an ugly bright school bus yellow. It was so ugly and it was very noticeable even from a distance. I freaked. And in a really calm voice he tells me, 'yeah, we thought it was ugly too, but since you picked this, we thought it was what you wanted.' They had painted the whole front in that blindingly bright color. Apparently the paint turns out brighter than the actual samples, so you need to get a decent sized board to paint so you can see what it really looks like! And the worse part was he refused to paint over it, so we had to live with it like that until it started peeling and we could do something different with it. So be careful what color you choose if it's not white! Enjoy the new look!

You didn't say if you were painting inside or outside. In either case, the size of your house or rooms makes a big difference in the colors you choose. Lighter shades will make the house or rooms appear larger.

I saw in a magazine a picture of a little bungalow. It was painted a mossy green with plum-colored shutters. It was adorable.

she should use paint chips (found at stores that sell paint). Get Behr. They're the best brand.
