If your lil' bro wants an actual High School diploma rather than a GED-check into an Alternative High School in your area. Most programs offer night school for the working students. The Alternative H. S. my son graduated at required proof of day job for night students. A student is allowed to attend high school until the age of 21-a student over 21 can still attend but must pay a small fee. Alternative H.S. offer the same diploma as your "regular" high school-So no one should be ashamed to say they went to an Alternative High School. Also Alt. Schools require a little more extra effort for graduation than the average H.S.-i.e. CPR certification, community service, science project, and exit interviews. Alt H.S. also usually have a zero tolerance policy-so the students who are there want to be there like your lil' bro!!! Don't just let him settle for a Good Enough Diploma!!!

Your local community college might have on line classes which will help you earn a GED. It would not hurt for your brother to ask about that by going to your local community college.

You also should call the County School Board of wherever you live, or go on their web site. There will be someone who can help you learn where folks in your town take the GED and then your brother can do self study.

If your brother is going to do things on line, make sure the school is legit! You better do that, man! Because, if you go on line and if the school is like a fake school, there is no GED to be had which would be recognized by his boss or anyone else.

Now, I personally like the BYU Adult Diploma Program. BYU is in Utah and I live in Tennessee so you can sorta figure out that I do not work for them:)
Here is the hyperlink for that

This program will give you the most bang for your buck! And it will totally set your brother straight for any future schooling. This program is all on line and they will work with you in a nice way.

All he has to do is get on the website to the local college fill out the application for the degree he wants. He should also apply for a grant. If he takes classes for a high school diploma or GED in the college it will give him extra credits on the grant.

Definetly go with the GED....

BEWARE of online schools that will try to sell you a diploma!!!! These are not legitimate and he will end up having to go back and get the real thing in the end.

GED will get him into many colleges, and he can self-study if necessary. There are online GED classes, I'm sure. So don't just look down on the GED.

Is he trying for his G.E.D.? Do you have a Project Learn in your area? This organization works with adults working on their G.E.D.s. If you don't have one, try calling the local high school and see what G.E.D.programs are offered in your area.

Ask the local high school counselors if they know of reputable online schools for high school diplomas.

go online for your local community college and they should have a listing of courses he can take either on line or at night to get his high school equivalency or GED.
