Way before Ancient Egypt cavemen painted themselves the same time they started painting on cave walls. But Egyptians most likely were the first to wear makeup in styles closer to how people wear it today.

I think it was with the ancient Egyptians. But, it would take a lot of research to find out for sure the very first time.

The above answers are correct by they fail to report the 'face paint" was loaded with lead..

(lead helps to make colors very bright)(but also can cause lead poisoning)

i read it in a history book that 1st make up was used by egyption ladies!!!!
