I believe in karma, I think when someone behaves badly or does wrong by someone, they will pay for it later in life.

Many different belief systems and religions have the concept of payback, that people get back what they do to others.

The best explanation I've seen for this is a simple lesson in energy. If someone is cruel and angry and surrounds themself with the energy that causes pain to others, that is what fills their life. And that energy can be turned on them just as easily as they use it against others. Like attracts like.

Similarly, people who are happy and joyful and kind are surrounded by that energy. And thus, absent any other influence, it's easier for anyone who interacts with them to go with the flow of that energy and be kind and happy back.

That's a simplistic view, but it gets the concept across. Another way to think about it -- anyone who throws mud at others is eventually going to get that mud on themself too.
