They are GUI Icons, which mean Graphical User Interface, which requires and uses memory like anything else, So Yes, ALOT of them are bad, but anywhere from 6-12, are o.k.

If you have a good recent computer, it shouldn't make much of a difference, but I guess at worst, it could slow down your computer when you start it up mostly, if your computer is older or if you have tons of icons all over your desktop.

It can slow down your computer.
Also takes a while longer to load up when starting up.
You will notice this especially on older computers, on newser computers it will be less of an issue.

It slows it up on startup but you can check which ones you use more then take the others off the desktop )there will be there but not on the screen)

it can slow your computer down. Only have icons on it that you use.

do you mean like the shortcuts to programs? no, it's not bad. but if you don't use the programs then you should uninstall them to make your computer run faster and more efficiently.
