Another rotary engine?
Sorry, I don't believe one can put a regular engine in a RX-7.

I've personally seen them powered by a variety of Chevy and Ford V8 engines, and heard of a few running around with Buick 3.8 V6 power as well. From what I've heard talking with the owners, the V8 conversion isn't very difficult at all.
Check out these guys:

They've got kits to put all kinds of engines into RX-7's.

with a little imagination,,you can put a 350 Chevy motor in it,,i have one,,and it turns heads every where we go in it,,its like a wind up toy,,when you let go of it,,it goes everywhere you don't want it to,,mine is rear wheel drive,,and i have a lot of fun with it,,as far as the little 4 cylinder engines,,you could out a number of different engines in it,,with the right modifications.i own a repair shop,,and we do a few odd ones once in a while,,good luck with it.
