Awkard question... If someone is married in one state... can they go to another state and get a license??? or is it on record that you already are married?? Even if you were marrying the same person.. does any of this make sense?? I hope because I am curious.

Ok i understand you cannot "legally" marry someone if you are already married.. my thing is.. i am married (in ca) no one knows yet though.. SO.. we are having a big wedding in our home state coming up.. and we dont want to tell anyone we are already married, so the pastor is going to expect to sign the certificate so is there any way we can get another one for him to sign ???

like if we went to get one , i know you have to have a license before you get a certificate so if we applyed for a licence would they deny us because we have already done it? i dont see why not

Check the laws for the appropriate states. hook for "secret remarriage" or renewing wedding vows. Not sure if it would be the same kind of license, though.

No offense, but if you are already married and are having the ceremony in another state, just be honest with the Pastor and tell him that you are already "legally" married in CA and that you are coming to him for the most important ceremony of all, the church one. You don't want to begin your marriage with a lie....
And if you don't want people to know that you are already legally married, is there a bigger issue that you are trying to cover up? By the way, lies always come out and turn ugly anyway, so please go with the truth so that you don't have to go through the issues that clearing the lie up will bring.

marry in Mexico. If he is a good man and you have a happy marriage he can be here. Make sure the marriage is legal. My brother in law is an attorney and he is in a better mood now. He says as long as you both have passports and marriage license you both should not have any problem here. Go to the local consulate or consolata and have all papers looked over. Much happiness and I am part Mexican too.

Well, you can renew your wedding vowels if it was with the same person but there are documentation in every state on marriages, that is why people divorce because you cannot legally marry someone if you are married to someone else.
If you were able to go to another state and get married, that is what people would do all the time.

You and your husband are already marry in california and want to go to your home state and remarry each other again.I know you can do this,But i don't know if they will give you a new license.I think you would have to ask the person, who will be marrying you again.Alot of happy marry couples remarry each other for a second time. It's showing that you 2 are just in love now, As the first time.

Ms, you go to another state however if marrying the same person why not just renew your vows ? If another person you could go to jail. You do not know unless you ask.

No, it is illegal.
You don't need a license twice with one person.
