Seems that Shearer's retirement hit us harder than we could've imagined, especially during these times when injury problems are plaguing our frontmen. Shay Given's not getting enough help at the back either. The club needs to do something about this persisting defensive inadequacy that they continue to fail to address.

They did good the last 2 seasons getting Owen and martins, as well as Duff. But what about their defense? If you look at most good teams who win regularly, they have a solid defense that keeps goals out and gets the ball up-field and off the other team. While Roeder signed Rossi, Martins, and Duff this summer he did not get any defenders of note, though he did get rid of Boumsong who was a waste of money.

But they are not totally bad, just might need time to really get their rhythm going.

Newcastle are a great club ( i support pompey) great support but they dont seem to have the financial backing for building a great team. I wonder if they need a new owner, is that shepard guy still up there? Curbishley is looking for work again i hear !!!
Something needs changing up there !!!!!

Glenn Roeder will probably be the first one to win the sack race & if they continue to perform poorly, they are gonna struggle this season to finish in the top half of the table.

The same thing that goes on every year. The Toon not living up to their promise. They should be up there with the Man Us, Liverpools and Arsenals of this world. Its what the fans deserve
