Does anyone know how to make homemade salt and pepper shakers costumes? Me and a friend are going trick or treating together and we want to be salt and pepper shakers. Any idea on how to make them? Step by step instuctions please;

What sort of Salt & Pepper Shakers? Step by Step requires a lot of effort - - - here goes - - - - we'll assume you want to be clear glass shakers so people can see salt & pepper. Imagine a Bell, you will need three plastic hoops; chest level, waist, knee. These velco to a strap at chest waist and knee level. Then get some thick, at least 1/4 inch thick plastic, the type that can be sewed, this is hard without a diagram but here goes, you will fold the plastic up from the bottom so that you make a envelope that will hold salt and pepper, the top edge being sewn at chest level. Think a Bell covering your body, the salt and the pepper trapped in fold of plastic looks like a full bottle. Now for your neck & face and head. WIth Mylar you should be able to craft a 'steel' screw on cap - - - your own face can show or use safe silver-metal face paint - - - Have a Spooktacular Halloween.

Take a look at these links. You may be able to make your costumes with a lot of felt, or, you could use fabric. The trick would be doing the tops of the shakers.

Try looking in fabric shops for patterns, too. You may get ideas from that, too. Maybe they won't involve a lot of sewing.

find a refrigerator store IE: sears or wal-mart ,get them to save you a large cardboard box for the shakers wrap icardboard around tapering from top to bottom use duct tape to hold it together so it goes around you cut arm holes. For the shaker top use Grey hats and a black marker to draw holes. Using paints, paint the shaker either all white with S & P or black and white wear black tightes and shoes

this is simple, salt will dress in all white sweat pants, top, white shoes, white gloves, white socks. pepper naturally will dress in all black. now for the shaker tops. go to a restaurant supply store and get 2 chef hats, the kind that are puffy on top. they come in white, so you will have to color them silver somehow, maybe spraypaint. then stuff the hats so they don't droop, use newspaper. on the top of the hats, make shaker holes. i think this will look really cute. good luck
