You can get many jobs, some not even related to Literature. Your major shows that you can do critical thinking so you could get a job even in the business world. You could get a job at a magazine or newspaper too. An entry level job starts at about $35-40 thousand. Get your degree and it will all fall into place.

There are many careers that will allow you to use the skills you learned during your English degree. A great list is at http://www.ualr.edu/english/jobs_list.htm but the list doesn't show salaries probably because it would be a wide range for each position due to location, training, and level of education.

You can go to just about any school and obtain a degree in English, but of course, the best programs will be at ivy league universities. Liberal arts schools are probably your best bet for a solid, individualized education in any humanities field.

Whenever anyone asks me what they can do with an English degree, my answer is always "Cherish it."

you could be an author

or a university lecturer - like Ross from Friends

anything really - what were you thinking of, like why did you want to major in it in the first place

anything i guess - just the fact that you have some sort of qualification means you can get a job - or is that not how the world works?

Well, there is graduate school (especially law school), but there's not much else you can do with the degree. There are many English majors. So unless you want to go to grad school, I don't know what to tell you.
