Liberalism is an ideology, political tradition which holds that liberty is the primary political value. Liberalism now encompasses a diversity of political thought.

Broadly speaking, contemporary liberalism emphasizes individual rights..........(** Unlike Republicans outlook **) It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, free public education, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports relatively free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of all citizens are protected. In modern society, liberals favor a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed.
Many liberals advocate a greater degree of government interference, Often in the form of anti-discrimination laws. Being liberal advances the USA . I'm proud I'm a liberal.

You, should probably hang your head in shame. Although liberalism sounds like a great freeing concept, most liberals use it as an excuse to be irrisponsible citizens. It is also contradictory to it's self.

For example you mention "limitations on power, especially of government and religion" however, the freedom of religion is a right we have in the first amendment, and to say that limiting religion is advancing the USA is backwards. Additionally, "liberals advocate a greater degree of government interference, often in the form of anti-discrimination laws" sounds a lot more like bigger government to me.

And limiting people's right to practice their religion, because it does not line up with your own ideology sounds a lot more like discrimination than emphasizes individual rights.

What you describe, except for the part about anti-discrimination laws, is known as 'classical' liberalism - liberalism as it used to be defined. It's not the current line of Liberal thought in America, and it certainly isn't Democrat party thinking - particularly the part about "market economy that supports relatively free enterprise". In today's American Liberalism "anti-discrimination laws" are a euphemism for hiring quotas, which attempt to legislate outcomes, not "opportunities to succeed" as you describe. Today's American Liberal supports speech codes in the name of political correctness on University Campuses all over the nation - so much for "freedom of thought for individuals". Or did you mean that, according to Liberal thinking, it's OK to THINK something that not politically correct, it's just not OK to say it? One more thing, "free" education isn't free, somebody pays for it. What you meant to say was "publicly funded education". And today's American Liberal (and I do mean American because it's not this way in some other countries) doesn't just support "publicly funded education" they only support public funds going to government run schools that are doing their best to teach politically correct conformity.

Its like asking if being a communist is OK. Communism has some good things but as people discover that the gov't must take care of them they naturally become more lazy and less willing to work and provide for themselves.
Liberalism is along the same line. When people discover they can vote for people who will give them everything and never ask for anything except thier vote in return why should they worry about providing for themselves. Just elect someone who will do that for them.
When Liberals get you to vote for them they are inslaving you. They decide how much monthly money you get, how big of a house you can live in and what school you can go to.
Someone once said " If you are 25 and not and not a Liberal you have no heart, but if you are 35 and not a conservative you have no brain"

I don't find you irritating and ignorant because you're a liberal, it's your hatred for the Military and your horrible comments about our dead troops that I find so repulsive. I might not agree with everything liberals believe, but I don't think they're bad people. They simply view certain issues differently then I do.
But you don't represent all liberals, because most liberals still respect and support our Military, and most liberals would never say the vicious comments that you make towards our dead troops and their families.

I am proud to be a liberal in America. If not for liberals we would still be answering to the queen. Throughout history the liberals have led the way to new and inventive forms of government. I think all one has to ask is are you better off today then in the Clinton years and only 5% of the country can answer yes to that. The very rich.

Regardless of your political tastes, you are fortunate indeed to be in the USA. You should also be proud (not in the Biblical sense) to be American-- to stand for freedom and justice.

You shouldn't be proud to be so political.
Liberal or conervative, getting involved in politics is about as close to a metaphorical drug addiction as one can come.

You should be proud of what you believe in no matter what, isn't that what America guarantees. Look at the NeoNazis who organize and march in the streets, they are able to, so be proud of what you want.
